Tokka Week Day 3: Bedtime

"It's bedtime. Now." Toph said sternly. Every night was a battle with Lin lately.

"Mom. Seriously. Do you know how old I am? I don't need a bedtime, I'm fourteen." Lin huffed.

"It's past eleven and you have training tomorrow. Go to sleep." Toph reiterated.

"Uncle Sokka gets to stay up. And he has the council in the morning." Lin tried to argue.

"Yes, but you see, he's an adult. You're not. And as long as you're my daughter living in my house, you'll go to bed when I say so." Toph made the earthen floor of their house rumble. Lin stomped off to her room.

"FINE!" Lin shouted as she slammed her door.

"She's almost as stubborn as you are." Sokka commented, smiling.

"Yeah," Toph grinned, "I love that little punk."

"She was right, though. I do have to be at the council pretty early tomorrow. I should head home and get some sleep." He got up from his seat on the couch and stretched a little.

"Boo." Toph moaned from her spot on the couch. "Can't you stay a while longer?"

"And do what? We can talk tomorrow night. I won't have work the next day." Sokka began to walk away, but Toph used her bending to send him falling back onto the couch. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him in for a forceful kiss.

"Talking isn't exactly what I had in mind." She said mischievously. Sokka laughed lightly and smiled.

"I guess I can stay for a little while." He said as he positioned himself over Toph and kissed her slowly. Toph wanted none of this painfully slow pretense, so she grabbed the back of his shirt, kissing him much more fiercely, and moved herself on top of him. She pulled her shirt over her head, straddling him.

"Bedtime, Sokka. Now." She grinned. They both rose to move into the bedroom, still kissing each other. They stumbled toward the hall as Sokka undid her belt and Toph practically ripped his shirt off, not caring to undo the buttons that she couldn't see. They were down to their wrappings and still glued to each other when they got to the hall.

Toph enjoyed the way she could sense Sokka's racing heartbeat as they progressed. She focused on it as their lips moved together and their hands explored. She could hear every single beat that he –

Wait… was there… another heartbeat?

Toph stopped kissing Sokka and sensed Lin standing a few feet away in the hall outside her bedroom.

"What?" Sokka whined. Toph gestured toward her daughter. She heard him inhale sharply.

"I just wanted some water…" Lin stammered.

"LIN. WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT BEDTIME?" Toph snarled, her cheeks flushing. Lin quickly ran back in her bedroom and shut the door.

"I am completely scarred for life!" she wailed from inside. Toph sighed and rubbed her neck.

"Well, I don't think she'll be staying up past her bedtime anymore." Sokka commented.
